写作 majors at Northwest learn how to compose content that inspires, 沟通, solves problems and seeks truth. Students in Northwest’s 写作 majors work across the spectrum of 写作 studies—from 写作 professional reports to 写作 poems. Northwest students are not canalized into a strict genre of 写作, such as news media, creative 写作 or technical 写作. 而, we’ve designed a major to help and challenge students to grow into flexible, 有效的, communicative writers.
When employers make hiring decisions, they seek smart people who write well. Northwest’s 写作 major is like cross-training for today’s job market. You will receive professional training without an expiration date—a liberal arts degree that prepares you for your first job after college and every job after that. We think studying 写作 is excellent preparation for life as an artist, 学者, citizen and professional—all the things you should be when you finish a rigorous undergraduate education at a supportive university and all the things you need to succeed in contemporary life.

A 小 in 写作 complements any major of which study is enhanced by improved written expression. The 小 includes electives in mass media and a range of advanced study opportunities in creative 写作, professional 写作, 大众媒体, rhetoric and language. The 小 requires the completion of 24 credit hours.

The Laurel Review is a bi-annual magazine of poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction produced by Northwest students. Students gain professional 出版 experience where they read, judge and edit manuscripts for publication. For more info, check out their Instagram.
